Just recently, over on a certain well-known fan-fiction site, I had some of my work stolen. Not just my work - but my user name as well.
A few years ago, I decided that I no longer wanted 'The Hooded Crow' to be associated with fan-fiction, because I was using that name on private blogs. I therefore changed my name to 'Fraggin'Aarvark' and thought that would be the end of it.
Of course, this left 'The Hooded Crow' free as a user name. I didn't give it any thought until I received a few emails, earlier this year, from several people who were familiar with my stories, asking if I had started posting my work as The Hooded Crow' once again.
On further investigation, someone else had taken 'The Hooded Crow', and copy-pasted a number of my stories. How very odd. It was my own fault for being naive, I suppose. Not only was I already well known as 'The Hooded Crow', it just never occurred to me that anyone would attempt this sort of masquerade.
Aaanyhow - the incident was reported, and the stories have been taken down. I've left an explanatory note on the Fraggin'Aarvark account, because the 'Crow' username still remains to confuse people. And I decided to bring my stories here instead.
...Then I re-read them all. And after much cringing at my appalling writing, decided that there was only one worth posting. The others are in need of much editing and re-writing, and I currently do not have the time for that.
However, the whole episode has refreshed my interest in all things Labyrinth, so there is a chance that I might well throw a few fan-related things here over the next few aeons.
And I joined the Labyrinth club! ~waves madly to fellow club members~
Even though I'm not as active in the fandom as I once was, the Labyrinth played a major part in warping my mind as a young and impressionable teenager. (Along with David Bowie, Adam Ant, Queen, Magnum and Toyah Wilcox...)
If it weren't for Labyrinth, I would never have become a professional mask-maker, of that I am certain.
